In a LQ forum's thread I was asked to prove that updates to the original DJB qmail program really exist, providing direct links to them. Since I think that the set of links I provided could be of interest for the visitors of this pages, this is a copy&paste of that post:
In no particular order:
Inter7 provides support for virtual domains and has developed, among the other things, a couple of web interfaces
- Erwin Hoffmann's qmail site provides a "spamcontrol" big patch (http://www.fehcom.de/qmail/spamcontrol.html), and the support for greetdelay and many standalone patches for qmail (I personally use his qmail-auth and greetdelay)
Spamdyke is actually a wrapper of the djb's qmail-smtpd. It is able to apply the most common anti-spam filters. Very easy to install.
John Simpson's qmail site is one of the richest sources of qmail informations. He shares a combined patch and the best greylist program I have seen.
Manvendra Banghui's Indimail project, derived from qmail
Manvendra provides support for qmail as well. I personally use his DKIM patch.
- http://www.qmailtoaster.com/ is the qmail distribution for centos/fedora/redhat users.
- http://ezmlm.untroubled.org provides support for mailing lists. Upgrades the original ezmlm of djb
UCSPI-TLS and UCSPI-SSL support for qmail
My favourite qmail-tls patch by F. Vermulen here
The qmail guide for debian users, which is based on Simpson's patch
Andre Oppermann's qmail LDAP patch
...and of course I'm forgetting something. There are many other patches I like which wait for updates, but at the same time they can be still considered useful; chkuser http://www.interazioni.it/opensource/chkuser/ is one of them, it provides recipient verification and MAV.
The main repository of links to all the available projects is always http://qmail.org.
This stuff can be applyed over the original Bernstein's program, which is claimed to be secure (read "Some thoughts on security after ten years of qmail 1.0" by D.J. Bernstein on the purpose).
And if you think that your site should be considered in this list you are invited to drop me a note
